holocene

im in the shower, the water is hot

a hot shower on a rainy day

bon iver’s holocene is playing

i don’t pay heed to the lyrics

the music is beautiful

the steam from the shower turns the glass partition foggy

i smile

the water rushes down my back

tickling my spine

i smile softly

in a dream of mine

im in a white dress, holding hands with him

running out of the church

im waving the white rose bouquet

while someone, a wedding guest, maybe my best friend or maybe my brother, records us on a disposable camera

the film comes out nice

i am smiling in it

laughing with wind in my hair and veil

there’s grass and tiny flowers around us

white and purple

the sun shines on us

i smile as the water hits my nose

the fog looks like folklore

i wipe the glass partition

he’s fixing his beard in the mirror

i sigh softly

catching his attention

he comes closer, wiping the other side of the glass

smiling at me with adoration

i love him.

i don’t say anything.

i hope he will too, in a while.
